The Smooth Effect: Facial Rejuvenation with Botox and Facial Fillers

With three convenient locations, AYA Medical Spa provides Atlantan’s and those in surrounding areas with a healthy skin experience. From patients concerned with acne to those looking for an anti-aging solution, AYA offers something for everyone. In fact, we offer a variety of cosmetic services to minimize signs of aging and meet our patients’ diverse needs including laser and radiofrequency resurfacing treatments, skin tightening with ReFirme™ or Ultherapy®, and dermal injectables.Since we’ve recently discussed the differences in anti-aging technology, we’d like to explain the differences in dermal injectables, which are often referred to as cosmetic injectables. Another common term associated with injectables is facial filler; although these terms are often used interchangeably, they refer to two types of products.Injectables like Botox® and Dysport® are made with a purified form of botulinum to relax muscles that cause wrinkling between the eyes and on the forehead. Conversely, facial filling products work to restore lost volume and fill in wrinkles. A majority of facial fillers including Juvéderm® and Radiesse® are made with hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of youthful skin that depletes with age. Sculptra® Aesthetic, however, is a filler that uses the power of polylactic (fruit) acid to stimulate the body’s ability to produce collagen.Although many patients combine Botox® with facial fillers for a complete facial rejuvenation, some patients choose one or the other based on their area(s) of concern. With just a few quick injections, patients are able to minimize the appearance of wrinkles for months. Botox® patients typically notice results for up to four months, while facial fillers often last six months to a year. Since Sculptra® actually stimulates collagen production, patients have reported younger looking skin for up to two years following treatment. If you’re interested in our facial rejuvenation services, be sure to schedule a skin analysis consultation to find out which option will work best for you.
