What is the downtime for a chemical peel?

Downtime for chemical peels varies from peel to peel. Some peels known as 'micropeels' cause minimal flaking, if at all. Others may cause more moderate peeling and flaking for 3-7 days after the treatment. Your aesthetic practitioner will inform you of what to expect for your specific peel. After your peel, you may be instructed to leave it on for a few hours before rinsing. In general, it's a good idea to avoid makeup for 24 hours post-peel, and you must protect your skin from the sun for the entirety of the peeling process.
